A Champion is Born
By: Moka | July 5th, 2008April 22, 1982 and Brasilia; the time and place of the birth of a champion, Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite to Simone Cristina dos Santos Leite and Bosco Izecson Pereira Leite. The older of two brothers, he got his nickname ‘Kaka‘ from his younger brother, Rodrigo Irfano (Digao), who couldn’t pronounce Ricardo, so instead opted for the easier, ‘Kaka‘.
A neat slide-show of some pictures from his childhood;
Unlike most Brazilians, Kaka was born in a relatively rich family, that emphasized the importance of education, in addition to soccer. He entered the Colegio Baptista Brasileiro, where he maintained excellent grades. Specifically, he averaged an 80% in Science, 95% in Portuguese and 100% in English, Religion and Mathematics. (which explains his excellent English and ‘I love Jesus’)
Teresa Cristina Dos Santos, a former teacher of Kaka, had this to say about him as a child:
In that age Kaka was not known as Kaka but his nickname was Ricardinho. He was a sweet child, who appealed a lot to his friends. He didn’t participate at quarrels. He was a excellent pupil.
While, his Physical Education teacher said this:
He was very disciplined. He had absolutely a thing that is outside from the normal one in children of that age that have quality and talent with the ball. He had much patience with the children who had difficulty. He was loyal, he helped the companions he has a good personality.
