Ka-Dinho
By: Moka | July 16th, 2008
That’s right. In January, everyone was relishing Ka-Pa-Ro, and they did brilliantly while they played (notably the 5-2 win over Napoli). Well, now, the ‘Ro’ at the time is pretty much gone, after his contract has expired, with Milan unwilling to renew. Essentially, that leaves him with two options : Flamengo or retire, even though he stated that he would be back stronger than ever right after his horrific injury. While he has surprised us many times, I think he’s already achieved so much, and with his terrible history of injuries, he won’t have the motivation to do well again. So, I say, go back to the club that made you a phenomenon.
As the original Ro becomes destined to leave Milan, little Ro, enters the scene, to revive the Ka-Pa-Ro combination. However, the ‘Pa’, is still too young to be a starter, I think, so I’ll use the term ‘Ka-Dinho’ to refer to this entertaining attacking-midfield duo. Below is a video showing clips from both former World Players of the Year. Watch each of them and just visualize what they’re capable of doing on a pitch together.
With all the media hype that surrounded the whole Dinho-to-Milan saga, Kaká spoke up and had this to say about his Brazilian counterpart:
I cannot judge his season because I don’t know exactly what happened to him, but Ronaldinho is a great player with a unique talent, there’s no doubt about that. It would be fantastic to play with him at Milan, I am sure he would help us win the title. With Brazil we have played together a lot and never had any problems.
.. which is only good news, considering it’s Kaká voicing his opinion, and he’s quite the smart one.
Over at the Milan blog, there are mixed feelings about the transfer. While some believe we should have gone for Adebayor, others believe we should have focused on the defense and a goalkeeper. Even others doubt Ka-Dinho’s capabilities on the field, after a disappointing World Cup in 2006, which featured the talented duo.
My personal opinion on his transfer; a very good one. Perhaps not the best the administration could have done, but nonetheless, very good. I would have opted for Eto’o, or Drogba, both established target-men, with very little doubters. However, in the end, it all boiled down to Adebayor or Dinho and I’m very glad we ended up with Dinho, despite his injury woes this season. The only positive aspect of Adebayor is his ability to play as a much-needed target man and his form, which, for all one knows, could be temporary.

I’m very excited and eager to watch them play together. I think they’ll do fine together, alongside each other behind the target man, whoever it may be. Kaká is quite the team player and I doubt he’ll have problems teaming up with Dinho. I believe they’ll click somehow, as the Ka-Pa-Ro of January did against Napoli. Dinho’s touches, technique and dribbling, coupled with Kaká’s pace, runs, and finishing is something to relish. To my knowledge, Dinho is motivated as ever, and eager to go to the Olympics, which is just another sign of his motivation to come back to his best.
Will be go back to the Dinho of 04-06, or will injuries put another dent to his career as it did with his Brazilian and former World Player of the Year counterparts Ronaldo and Rivaldo?
