The Return of the King..
By: Moka | September 10th, 2008
A trip to Turkey, the start of school, and technical problems don’t really add up to free-time and a blog post. Fortunately for me, however, Kaká missed the first match as he was still recovering from his knee injuries, so I didn’t miss out on seeing him play and giving a post-match analysis. Transfer market-wise, there has been more speculation regarding his future, but he was quick to clear any doubts.
The most interesting story that has rocked the soccer world in the past couple of weeks is the whole Man City takeover, which resulted in the capture of Robinho. Who would have thought that a player of Robinho’s caliber would end up in an English team outside the top 4? These new owners definitely have the ambition (and money) to turn Man City into a top team. How exactly do they want to do that? By luring top-notch stars, such as Gerrard, Essien, Villa and, well, Kaká. More about the Man City takeover here.
A few players were quick to dismiss the possibility of joining the Man City revolution, including Kaká:
“First it was Real Madrid and now it is fashionable to talk about England. The market goes like that. Milan make offers to other clubs and they make offers to Milan. But I would never ask to leave. I have always been treated well and the relationship is excellent. One day people may have a different attitude towards me, but that doesn’t seem possible to me. I would only leave if the Rossoneri decided to sell me, or the day that we don’t have the same objectives and I don’t see that happening. I know there is concern over my injury but this story has been running for over a year. There has always been something that stopped me from listening to my body. For example, the knee would hurt but we had a European Super Cup to win, and then I wanted the Ballon d’Or and then the games in Yokohama [in the Club World Cup]. It kept going like that until I had to stop.”
Soon after, Ancelotti spoke to Milan Channel about the importance of Kaká.
“Ricky(Kaká) is one of those players who represents so much for his club, not only for what he does on the pitch but for the club’s image. He is like Maldini and Rino Gattuso who are both symbols of this club, players who carry the Milan brand. Tomorrow’s game[Lugano] will be important for us as it’s Kaká’s first game back from injury.”
Yesterday Kaká had this to say:
“Not participating to the Champions League this year makes me angry, but at least we will have the chance to focus entirely on the league. This time the Scudetto is really our objective. The knee is doing fine. These days I am training hard and I haven’t felt any pain.”
All in all, very comforting words, especially for AC Milan fans.
Tonight, there is the friendly against Lugano and Kaká will start on the bench. Then, the match against Genoa on Sunday.
